At VeldPaws we make honest, single-ingredient treats for dogs, and we treat your personal information with the same care. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Who we are

VeldPaws (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a South African business operating the online store at veldpaws.co.za. For the purposes of POPIA we are the “responsible party” for the personal information you share with us. The information we collect

• Order and delivery details, your name, email address, phone number and delivery address, so we can process and deliver your order.
• Account details, if you create an account, your login and any saved addresses.
• Payment information, entered directly with our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.
• Messages you send us, anything you include when you contact us or subscribe to our newsletter.
• Technical and usage data, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, collected through cookies and analytics. See our Cookies Policy for detail.

How we use your information

• To process, pack and deliver your orders, and to handle any returns or refunds.
• To send you order confirmations and delivery updates.
• To respond to your enquiries and support requests.
• To send you news about new treats and offers, only if you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
• To keep our store secure, prevent fraud, and meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations.
• To improve our products, our website and your shopping experience.

Who we share it with

We share only what is needed to run the store, and we never sell your personal information. Our trusted providers include:

• Payment processing, our secure payment gateways, which take your payment and protect against fraud.
• Delivery, our courier partners, who need your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.
• Email and marketing, our email platform, which sends the newsletters you have subscribed to.
• Website hosting and analytics, the providers that keep our site running and help us understand how it is used.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

Information sent outside South Africa

Some of our service providers, such as our email and analytics tools, may process information on servers outside South Africa. Where this happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to be protected to a standard comparable to POPIA.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it. Order, payment and tax records are generally kept for five years, as required by South African law. Marketing information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.

How we protect it

Our store runs over a secure (HTTPS) connection, card payments are handled by PCI-compliant providers, and access to personal information is limited to those who need it to do their job. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take the safety of your information seriously.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it.
• Ask us to correct or update information that is wrong or out of date.
• Ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep.
• Object to your information being used for direct marketing.
• Withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.

Our store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.
